Modules in the MES Patriot System

MES Patriot – Production Planning

The production planning module operates based on capacity status according to the MRP II methodology. It takes into account the current status and capabilities of production, material and human resources, as well as the availability of machines, inventory, and production equipment. It calculates production process forecasts and evaluates the best way to handle sudden changes in the production process regarding order execution results. At its core is the integration with the Bill of Materials (BOM) at any assembly level and the connection to the Warehouse Management System (WMS), as well as feedback to the Production Execution module and the production workflows of individual tasks with standardized times. It controls the execution of production orders, monitors deadline compliance, and maintains optimal inventory levels. It provides real-time evaluation of the status of processed orders for production management.

A key feature is the effective feedback from production via the Production Management module. The principle of monitoring and evaluation (feedback) is as follows:

  • Workers log into the system via their workstation terminals.
  • The system processes data regarding the immediate status of order processing.
  • Through the connection to the maintenance system, information regarding production capacity is always kept up to date.
  • Outputs (reports) regarding production capacities and order statuses are provided.
  • All processing steps are archived—ensuring the traceability of all operations performed.

MES Patriot – Production Monitoring

A constant overview is essential for production. Whether your company requires charts, tables, or other formats, we can display them.

For this purpose, we utilize large on-site screens and displays, or any device equipped with a web browser.

MES Patriot – Process Data Collection

Data acquisition from machines and production lines provides real-time information regarding production, production status, piece counts, the number of defective items, or downtime. This data can also be interactively supplemented by the operator with information regarding the underlying causes.

Modern technology for data collection from production machinery or input via production terminals ensures error-free processing, which is often difficult to achieve through manual data entry into predefined forms. Information regarding production processes is precise, and details of the work performed can be transferred directly into the ERP system. Complete records of production, orders, materials used, and components—including historical data—are included.

MES Patriot – OEE and Visualization

We can represent machine availability, downtime, and utilization clearly and precisely in numerical form. We calculate and display useful OEE indicators, the status of work-in-progress (WIP), and other essential production process data in real-time.

Depending on customer requirements, we calculate and evaluate key parameters generated during production, as we know how vital a constant overview is for manufacturing operations. Whether your company requires charts, tables, or other formats, we can display them. For this purpose, we use large factory screens or displays, or any device equipped with a web browser.

MES Patriot – Traceability

A valuable component is the product and packaging traceability module. To ensure its proper functionality, high-quality and unique identification technology is required.

In addition to the latest RTLS (Real-Time Locating System) technology from SIEMENS for product localization, other industrial identification and reading technologies such as barcodes, 2D codes, NFC, or RFID are also utilized. If a product’s nature makes cost-effective unique identification difficult, we can ensure traceability by tracking the work package (blister) and the specific position of the product within it.

Traceability ensures both forward and backward tracking of the product or its components throughout the production process:

  • Comprehensive Search: It ensures that all products or parts containing a specific component or material can be located—both within ongoing production and among finished goods (e.g., searching for affected products during a quality audit).
  • Root Cause Analysis: Traceability allows for the identification of all components and material batches used in a specific finished product (e.g., to trace the root cause of a customer complaint).

The traceability system can also be integrated into quality control to enable “online” (real-time) corrective actions. This allows for the immediate suspension of specific product units, shipping boxes, or material batches if quality non-conformity is detected.

For example, if an in-process inspection identifies a quality deviation—such as the use of a faulty material batch—the system can immediately identify and track all parts and end products affected by that batch. This allows for immediate intervention before the affected products are shipped to the customer.

MES Patriot – Fast Reaction System (FRS)

Production monitoring and tracking can be enhanced with features that enable an effective response to the occurrence of errors in production. This functionality is part of the Fast Reaction System (FRS) module, which significantly reduces the frequency and duration of unplanned production downtime.

This is achieved through the use of a sophisticated system for alerting the relevant personnel to production errors, including the escalation of unresolved events. FRS significantly shortens response times to production disruptions, identifies them quickly, and eliminates downtime. It feeds information outputs into the production plan and tracks downtime as well as deviations from production trends. Outputs include event logs regarding occurred errors and their resolution.

MES Patriot – Maintenance Management

The maintenance management system features a modular design, allowing for comprehensive records of buildings, process units, machinery, and equipment, down to individual components. In addition to basic record-keeping, it enables maintenance planning and the evaluation of maintenance costs.
The system comprehensively logs maintenance objects, including technical specifications, and provides an overview of equipment criticality. Maintenance planning is based on OEE and other performance indicators for maintenance work, with integrated time tracking. The system allows for the manual entry of maintenance requests and real-time status monitoring. It provides for the collection of data regarding the reliability of critical assets (MTTF/MOTTF parameter monitoring). Utilizing advanced statistical methods, it enables predictive maintenance of machines and systems, supporting a proactive approach to maintenance management. The integration of vibration sensors facilitates precise diagnostics and preventive interventions by maintenance technicians, while maintenance performance is measured via key indicators. Furthermore, the system offers intelligent maintenance management through a mobile app.

The system distinguishes between the following basic types of maintenance:

  • Preventive: Performed as regular maintenance within specified cycles.

Welding Support – Patriot Welding Process

The Patriot Welding Process application supports compliance with mandatory documentation and control requirements for welding processes in the manufacture of steel structures according to EN 1090 and welding standards according to ISO 3834.

It is a modular solution suitable for businesses of all sizes—from small workshops to large enterprises—and for projects ranging from small components to massive structures. Based on the project structure, the software automatically identifies the appropriate welders, WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), WPQR (Welding Procedure Qualification Records), and additional NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) requirements, while facilitating the printing of all necessary project documentation. It also features pre-configured templates such as production guides, quality plans, inspection plans, welder logs, WPS/WPQR lists, CE declarations, and more.

Since a single order can involve thousands of weld seams, PATRIOT® Welding Process is designed to significantly reduce administrative overhead. It ensures that records are kept accurately in accordance with the requirements of notified bodies and industry standards. After basic data is entered, the system automatically suggests the correct WPS and a welder whose qualifications match the specific characteristics of the weld from the database. Furthermore, if the weld data includes parameters regarding load ratios and stress direction, the software automatically proposes additional NDT inspections.
